Phuket Addiction Recovery Clinic

Hi, my name is Kyan and I’m the founder of ASABI, a creative studio where I combine my experience across music, film and marketing to tell stories and communicate ideas for clients.

I manage the entire process from initial concept to directing, shooting, editing, colour grading, sound design, composition and delivery. This approach allows me to deliver results more efficiently than a large agency.

AIRBNB

Documentary Series Concept - “My Favourite” (working title)

Airbnb has a public perception issue regarding the impact on local communities and the rental market.

This documentary series seeks to refocus on Airbnb’s origins of private rooms within a home vs entire property listings.

The series will highlight and revisit the connections between guests and their hosts in a tangible, human way.

Brand anthem & spec ad - “Belong Anywhere”

Wanderlust, home away from home, human connection…I created “Belong Anywhere” to embody the essence of Airbnb. This is a taster of the atmosphere and brand messaging that can be created for future campaigns.

Creative innovation, branding and content creation for a market leading client in a highly competitive e-commerce niche that doesn’t allow paid ads or social advertising on major platforms. This means that they are highly reliant on creativity to build brand awareness and expand to new demographics.

My strategy involved :

  • A comprehensive redesign of the clients product catalogue, from static, stock images to cinematic, 360 degree product videos with original soundtracks.

  • A heart-led, verité style documentary series observing employees and customers along the process from order to warehouse to delivery.

  • Working alongside an SEO company to utilise the videos I created to increase engagement and boost SEO ratings

  • An affiliate marketing and influencer plan built around product reviews

The relationship has gone from strength to strength, with the client renewing the retainer contract for another year for the current business as well as engaging me to develop a similar plan for a second business.

PAYPAL

Collaboration introduction, brand anthems & social media spec ad

Musical mnemonics are a tried and tested method of communicating ideas and building brand awareness, particularly for companies that sell functional solutions and products that aren’t visually engaging. For PayPal I composed three examples using company slogans, as well as an introduction video presentation and a social media spec ad.

4

LINKTREE

Brand anthem & social media spec ad ‘With One Simple Click’

Creatives are one of Linktree's core user groups, so I wanted to make a piece that embodied that creativity.

This is an opportunity to use musical mnemonics to drive home to core message of the company, whilst highlighting future and current members of its growing community.

ABOUT

ASABI is a creative studio founded by

British musician and filmmaker Kyan.

Hailed by music legend Nile Rodgers as a “genius” and championed by Emmy winning writer and film producer Lena Waithe, Kyan is a multi-disciplinary artist who has amassed over 130 million streams, composed music and created films for major television networks and brands.

Growing up an introverted black boy in a bi-racial, lesbian household in Cambridge informed Kyan’s early desire to focus his art on building connection and navigating the human experience through the universal languages of music and film.
